Privacy Policy
What Kamper collects, why, and the choices you have.
Who we are
Kamper is a camping app for planning trips with your crew. This policy explains what Kamper collects when you use the app, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
Your account
When you sign in with Apple, Google, or email, we receive your email address and, if you share it, your name. Apple’s Hide My Email addresses work too. We use them to sign you in and keep your Kamper data with your account.
What you add
Kamper stores what you add: your profile (display name, photo, and Kamper code), trips, campsites, gear, meals, tasks, ratings, teams, households, badges, and the photos you attach. Kampers you share a trip, team, or household with see what you share there. Your profile privacy settings choose what other Kampers see on your profile.
Public trip registration
When you register for a public trip, you give the host your first name, last name, email address, and address, as described in the Data Collection Notice. Only that trip’s host sees them.
Location
With your permission, Kamper uses your location to find camps nearby. If you allow location Always, Kamper checks you in when you reach a trip’s campsite, even when the app is closed, and saves your arrival and departure days to award badges. We don’t keep a history of your movements. To show a trip’s weather, the campsite’s coordinates are sent to OpenWeather, or to Apple’s or Google’s weather service, and the trip’s forecast is saved on your device. When you search for a campsite, your search text is sent to Google Places. You can change location access anytime in your device’s Settings.
Camera and photos
Photos you take or pick for meals, gear, trips, teams, or your profile are uploaded only when you save them. Cutting out meal stickers and logos happens on your device.
On-device features
Suggested trip descriptions are written by AI that runs on your device. Your trip details aren’t sent to us or anyone else to write them. If you turn on app lock, Face ID also runs on your device, and Kamper never receives your face data.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, we store a push token for your device so we can tell you about invites, trips, check-ins, and badges.
Purchases
Kamper Pro is billed by Apple or Google, and we never see your payment details. RevenueCat receives your Kamper account ID and email address to manage your subscription, so your purchase follows your account to other devices.
Reports and blocks
When you report a profile, meal, trip, or team, we store the report, what it points to, and your account so we can review it. The Kamper you report isn’t told who reported them. When you block a Kamper, we store that so their public content stays hidden from you.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell your data or use it for advertising, and Kamper has no ad or analytics trackers. We share data only with the services that run Kamper for us: Supabase (accounts, database, and photo storage), RevenueCat (subscriptions), Expo (push notification delivery), Google (Google sign-in, campsite search, and weather), OpenWeather (weather), and Apple (Sign in with Apple, maps, weather, and notifications). We may also disclose data when the law requires it.
On your device
Kamper keeps a copy of your data on your phone so the app works offline. Signing out or using Reset everything in Settings clears it from the phone.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while you have an account. When you delete your account from Edit profile, we permanently remove your profile, gear, meals, photos, and the trips you hosted, and end Sign in with Apple for Kamper. Households you created stay with their other members.
Your choices and rights
You can view and edit your details in the app, change permissions in your device’s Settings, and delete your account anytime. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your data, or to object to how we use it. Contact us to make a request.
Children
Kamper isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us data, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Security
Your data travels encrypted, and only your account and the Kampers you share with can reach it. No system is perfectly secure, so keep your sign-in safe.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update it here and change the effective date. We’ll point out big changes in the app.
